Requesting approval to accept and expend a $8,149.84 grant with no new match required from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services to the Fire Department for the purchase of firefighting gear for new recruits.

To the Honorable City Council: The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept and approve expending a grant of $8,149.84 from the Department of Fire Services to the Somerville Fire Department, under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant does not require the commitment of new matching funds. The purpose of this grant is to pay for the purchase of firefighting gear (bunker gear) for new recruits. This is Round 2 of a grant previously approved by this council (Item 25-0102) and will be used for the same purpose as the earlier approval.
