To the Honorable City Council: The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council appropriate $306,250 from the Community Preservation Act (CPA) Historic Preservation Reserve for the Department of Veterans' Services to undertake restoration of the Veterans Memorial Cemetery and selected veterans monuments located throughout the city. The appropriation will be allocated to the Historic Preservation CPA category (Fund #3252). The following funding conditions have been placed on the project: 1. The Grantee will consent to general conditions provided in the Memorandum of Agreement, which shall include a provision to ensure long-term preservation of the historic assets; and 2. The Veterans’ Department will coordinate with the Public Space and Urban Forestry Division for the preservation of the Veterans Cemetery and monuments in City parks, and with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) for monuments located on property under DCR’s jurisdiction. Details of this request are available in the attached funding recommendation from the Community Preservation Committee. Appropriate staff will be available to address any questions you may have. Thank you for your consideration of this item. Respectfully Submitted, Jake Wilson, Mayor
