Requesting ordainment of an amendment to Sections 2.1.1, 2.3.1, 2.4.1, 2.4.2, 2.4.3, 2.4.6, 3.1.6, 3.2.6, 9.2.11, 9.2.13, 9.2.14, 10.2.1, 10.2.2, and 14.1.5 of the Zoning Ordinance to simplify regulation of accessory structures.

To the Honorable City Council: The Mayor respectfully submits for this Council’s consideration and ordainment an amendment to Sections 2.1.1, 2.3.1, 2.4.1, 2.4.2, 2.4.3, 2.4.6, 3.1.6, 3.2.6, 9.2.11, 9.2.13, 9.2.14, 10.2.1, 10.2.2, and 14.1.5 of the Somerville Zoning Ordinance to simplify and clarify accessory structure regulations. This amendment establishes a new subsection in 2.4 Standards & Measurements to regulate accessory structures, simplifies accessory structure dimensional standards to reduce unnecessary complexity, associates certain structures and standards to the uses they support, and helps consolidate types of structures across the ordinance.
