To the Honorable City Council: The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept and approve expending a grant of $76,867 from the Massachusetts Office of Elder Affairs to the Council on Aging, under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant does not require the commitment of new matching funds. The purpose of this grant is to pay for social programming, educational and recreational events, physical and mental health programming, equipment and other needs of the elderly. This is the second portion of a $153,734 dollar grant awarded to the Somerville Council on Aging for FY24. Appropriate staff will be available to answer any questions you may have.
